Greek Mythology Meme // ᵗʰʳᵉᵉ ᵐᵒʳᵗᵃˡˢ/ʰᵉʳᵒᵉˢ ⁽³/³⁾ • ANTIGONE

The daughter of Oedipus and Jocasta, Antigone was her father’s guide during Oedipus at Colunus, and is the title character of the third and final of Sophocles’ theban plays. She defies her uncle Creon to give her brother Polynices a proper burial, showcasing the conflict between divine and human law. Ordering her buried alive in a tomb, Creon would later have a change of heart— but Antigone had already hung herself.
